Gas leak detection

A gas leak inspection is mandatory for biogas and biomethane plants; it is also worthwhile for other gas-carrying components, not least for economic reasons. These need not always be limited to digesters, secondary digesters and gas storage tanks, but may also include gas pipelines, compressors, gas treatment systems, combined heat and power (CHP) units or gas processing plants. By using a refrigerated methane detection camera, along with our ‘sniffer’ and laser camera, we can inspect the entire gas network and detect even the smallest leaks.

What does a 4 mm hole in my biogas plant mean?

A 4 mm leak at a tank pressure of 2.4 mbar results in a flow rate of 0.7 m³/h. Under the same conditions, this corresponds to 6,132 m³/a. Assuming a minimum of 5 kWh/m³ of biogas, this equates to a loss of 30,660 kWh.
